A Key to our Secret
The vineyards in Flörsheim-Dalsheim are the award-winning basis for harmonious fruity wines. As the record prize-winning wine village in Germany (Guinness Book of Records 1998, the region is also known to wine connoisseurs as the “valley of the kings”.
One key to the secret of the Schales wines is certainly the unique location and the composition of the 65 to 70 million-years-old shell limestone soil. Rooted in soil rich in lime and minerals and blessed with plenty of sunshine, the vines produce grapes for wines that are marked by the terroir with an extraordinarily full aroma.
As long as 2000 years ago, the Romans had already recognized the special quality of this soil. Today the Schales Winery creates exquisite wines from the uniqueness of this terroir.
